Artists Emil Goh

Malaysian born artist Emil Goh captured ordinary everyday moments in his photographs and video works, transforming the mundane into the extraordinary and showing the beauty that surrounds us.

Emil Goh / Artist biography

Emil Goh moved between urban centres in Asia, Australia and Europe. He was a documentary photographer who used stills and video to capture images, but instead of monumental or historical events, he chose ephemeral moments and details from the everyday. He studied Photography & Sculpture at Sydney College of the Arts and received a Masters in Art from Goldsmiths College, London. Emil Goh passed away in September 2009. Goh exhibited extensively throughout Australia and internationally. In 2005 he showed at the Jakarta International Video Festival and in 'Seoul: Until Now' Charlottenborg Udstilling-sbygning, Copenhagen. His work was included in 'Mix-Ed' at Sherman Galleries, 2004, in 'Location Location', at the Australia Centre for Photography, Sydney, 2003 and in 2004 he participated in the Busan Biennale at the Busan Metropolitan Art Museum. Goh had residencies at London's Hayward Gallery, Hong Kong University, the Chinese Arts Centre in Manchester, and SSamzie Space, Seoul.
